Cochlear Implant Mapping
Implantable NeuroTechnology™ for Severe Hearing Loss
Our priority at Arizona Balance & Hearing Aids is to provide advanced, scientific, and compassion-driven hearing care. We are proud to offer revolutionary cochlear implant mapping in Scottsdale, AZ. We understand that proper hearing is vital to every aspect of life and that those with hearing loss are affected in all areas of their lives. There are times that hearing loss goes beyond the use of traditional treatment methods, and implantable hearing devices, like cochlear implants, can often help.
What Are Cochlear Implants?
A cochlear implant is a neuroprosthetic device that drives the auditory system and provides significant improvements in hearing to those with the most extreme hearing loss.
With two primary components, the external sound processor and the surgically-placed implant that’s attached to an electrode and inserted into the cochlea of the ear, cochlear implants have been changing lives for over 40 years.
Why Choose Cochlear Implants?
Cochlear implants are a viable option when traditional hearing loss treatment options have been exhausted. By offering direct stimulation to the auditory system, they provide users with enhanced auditory awareness and the ability to be a part of the conversation.
Children as young as 12 months old and adults with severe to profound hearing loss are the ‘typical’ cochlear implant candidate. Our audiologists can determine eligible patients and work with leading ENT surgeons and beyond to help each patient hear their best.
Cochlear Implant Mapping
Although we do not place the cochlear implant, our team offers custom programming, also known as mapping. Mapping establishes your threshold and comfort levels so the implant settings can be adjusted to optimize sound quality.
Regular mapping sessions are an important part of the process as they ensure the cochlear implant is always tuned to your specific needs. Over time, your threshold levels adapt, and obtaining new measurements will ensure your cochlear implant is working properly for your needs.
